HISTORY

Our brief historical background of the mountain is provided in order to ensure that you get the most from our mountain tour. Juan de Bolas Mountain is the highest peak in the parish of St Catherine, at approximately 1000m above sea level. Visiting the mountain is in many ways engaging with the past, as this historic mountain is named after the first Chief of the Jamaican maroons (Juan de-Bolas) who, in the mid 17th century established a community and lived among the people.

It also creates a space for coming together, basking in the joy of the great outdoors and having fun in the midst of supporting local farmers and community partnerships.Visitors will be invited during their visit, to be involved in seeing where countryside food produce comes from. Juan de Bolas Mountain community farms are inviting and intended to be gathering places for farmers to connect with visitors.
